Frequently Asked Questions

Find clear answers about recording glucose, understanding Gludiary’s summaries, managing your data and using Premium features.

Important: Gludiary is a logging and informational tool. It does not measure glucose, diagnose a condition or recommend treatment. Follow your care plan and contact a qualified healthcare professional if you are concerned about a reading or your symptoms.

What is Gludiary? Does it measure blood sugar?

Gludiary helps you record glucose values from your glucose meter or CGM, review trends and prepare reports. It is not a glucose meter or CGM and cannot measure blood sugar. It does not provide a diagnosis or tell you how to change medication, insulin, food or other treatment.

How do I add a glucose reading?

Tap the floating + button on the Dashboard, enter the value with the large numeric keypad and choose the meal context, such as fasting, before a meal, after a meal or bedtime. You can also adjust the date and time or add notes, tags, carbohydrate and insulin details before saving.

How does camera scanning work?

On a supported device, open Add Reading and tap the camera button, then point the camera at your glucose meter display. Always check the detected number and unit before you save it. The free plan includes one camera scan per day; Premium includes unlimited scans. Manual entry remains available without a scan limit.

How do I switch between mg/dL and mmol/L?

Open Settings and change the unit system in your profile settings. Gludiary will show your readings, charts and reports in the selected unit. Choose the same unit used by your meter and healthcare professional.

What do the glucose colours and target ranges mean?

Gludiary compares each reading with the target range saved in Settings and, when enabled, your meal-specific targets. The colours are visual summaries of those settings, not medical alerts or treatment instructions. Ask your healthcare professional which targets are appropriate for you.

What is GMI?

Glucose Management Indicator (GMI) is an estimate calculated from the average of your logged glucose readings. Gludiary shows it after at least 30 readings are available from the recent 30-day period. GMI is not a laboratory HbA1c result or a diagnosis, and it may be less reliable during pregnancy. Learn more from the published GMI consensus paper.

How do charts and Time in Range work?

The Charts tab summarizes the readings stored in Gludiary. Seven-day and 30-day views are free; 90-day, six-month, one-year and all-time views require Premium. Time in Range is the share of the available readings inside your selected target range. It describes only the readings you logged or imported and is not the same as continuous CGM coverage.

How do I create a report for my doctor?

Open the Reports tab, choose PDF or CSV, select a date range and choose the information to include. You can preview and share the result with the standard iOS share sheet. The free plan includes one PDF or CSV export per month for a range of up to 30 days. Premium includes unlimited exports and date ranges.

How does Apple Health integration work?

With your permission, Gludiary can read and write blood glucose data through Apple Health. The free plan offers one import from Apple Health. Premium can keep importing new readings and write readings created in Gludiary back to Apple Health. You control Health permissions in iOS Settings and can revoke them at any time.

Where is my data stored?

Your Gludiary database is stored locally on your device. Gludiary does not require an account and does not automatically sync its database through CloudKit or a Gludiary server. If you choose Apple Health integration, those Health records are managed separately by Apple and may sync according to your own iCloud Health settings. See Apple’s Health data guidance.

How do I move my Gludiary data to another device?

Premium users can open Settings and export a JSON backup, then import that file on the new device. Readings originally imported from Apple Health are not duplicated in the backup; they can be imported again from Apple Health when available. Keep backup files private because they can contain sensitive health information.

How do I edit or delete a reading?

Open History and select a reading to view its details, edit it or delete it. If Gludiary created and wrote the reading to Apple Health, it can update or remove its own matching Health sample. A reading imported from another app can be removed from Gludiary without deleting the other app’s original Apple Health sample.

How do reminders work?

Open Settings, choose Reminders, add or enable the reminders you need and select a time. iOS will ask for notification permission the first time it is needed. You can change that permission later in iOS Settings under Notifications.

What does Gludiary Premium include?

Premium includes unlimited camera scans, longer chart history, unlimited PDF and CSV exports, continuous Apple Health import and write sync, JSON backup and restore, and an ad-free experience. Current plans, prices and any trial eligibility are shown in the app before purchase. Family Sharing is not included.

How do I restore or cancel my subscription?

To restore Premium, open Gludiary’s purchase screen and tap Restore Purchases while signed in with the Apple Account used for the original purchase. To cancel, open iOS Settings, tap your name, choose Subscriptions, select Gludiary and tap Cancel Subscription. See Apple’s subscription instructions.

Does Gludiary work offline, and how do I contact support?

Manual logging, local history and charts work without an internet connection. Purchases, purchase restoration and advertising may require a connection. If you still need help, email support@gludiary.com. For a technical problem, include your app version, iOS version and the steps that reproduce it, but do not email glucose readings or other sensitive health information.
